Introduction
This article provides a simple way to verify if your Kepion web server is joined with an on-premise active directory (Windows AD) domain or Azure active directory (Azure AD) domain.
Before you start
Confirm you have access to the Kepion web server (i.e., the machine with Kepion installed) and permission to share files.
Also, gather the following information from a valid user in your organization:
- Windows AD username (e.g., middleearthad\frodo, where middleearthad is the domain name and frodo is the username)
- Azure AD username (e.g., frodo@middleearthad.onmicrosoft.com)
Verify Windows AD connection
1. Sign in to the Kepion web server and select a folder to share.
2. Right-click the folder and select Give access to > Specific people…
3. From the dropdown, select Find people…
4. Enter the Windows AD username (e.g., middleearthad\frodo) as the object name.
5. Select Check Names.
If the Windows AD username is resolved to a valid credential, the machine is joined to a Window AD domain. Below is an example of a resolved credential.
6. Select Cancel when you’re done.
If a Name Not Found window pops up, that indicates the machine isn't joined with the specified Windows AD domain or an AD sync-up is needed.
Verify Azure AD connection
1. Follow steps 1-3 from the above procedure.
2. Enter the Azure AD username (e.g., frodo@middleearthad.onmicrosoft.com) as the object name.
3. Select Check Names.
If it resolves, your machine is joined with an Azure AD domain. Otherwise, your machine is not joined with the specified Azure AD domain, or an AD sync-up is needed.
4. Select Cancel when you’re done.
