Note: The Add Member Rule has been deprecated in newer versions of Kepion. Refer to this article for the current practice to add new Dimension Members with SQL.
When adding a new Rule to a Model, there are three Rule Types to choose from: SQL, MDX, and Add Member. The Add Member Rule is a SQL Rule which allows end-users to add new Dimension Members through a Dashboard App.
The use-case of the Add Member Rule is limited. By default, it's not possible to constrain the data or specify attributes with this Rule. The Add Member Rule only allows you to specify the name of the new Dimension Member and the Parent Member it belongs to. When creating a new Add Member Rule, select which Dimension and Hierarchy it should pertain to.
Then configure a new Rule Component within a Dashboard, and link the Add Member Rule. Now in your Dashboard App, run the new Rule. Specify the new Member you want to add and the Parent it belongs to.
Click Run and the new Dimension Member should be added to the Hierarchy. In addition, the Dimension will be automatically processed as part of the Rule, so a deployment should not be necessary.
