Introduction
Kepion supports myriad options to manage user credentials and authentication. In addition to a few Windows authentication options, Kepion can also be configured to authenticate via Active Directory Federation Services (ADFS) and Azure Active Directory (Azure AD).
Note: To understand which user types are supported in each authentication mode, refer to this article.
Windows authentication
Windows authentication is Kepion's default and requires little setup.
There are three options:
Authentication Mode |

*Includes 3rd party tools that try to connect to Kepion-generated SSAS cubes, e.g., Excel PivotTable.
Tip: To learn more and configure Windows authentication, refer to this guide.
ADFS authentication
ADFS is a Single Sign-On solution, created by Microsoft, that provides users with authenticated access to applications when they cannot use IWA.
ADFS has one authentication mode:
Authentication Method | Sign in to Kepion | User Types Supported | Connect to SSAS from 3rd Party Tools* |
---|---|---|---|

*Includes 3rd party tools that try to connect to Kepion-generated SSAS cubes, e.g., Excel PivotTable.
Tip: To learn more and configure ADFS authentication, please refer to this guide.
Azure AD Authentication
Kepion can authenticate users via Azure AD, even if it isn't integrated with your domain (i.e., "standalone").
