Introduction
The Membership node allows administrators to manage the relationships among users, groups, and roles. Users can be added to roles in Kepion and groups in Windows Active Directory (AD) or Azure AD, allowing administrators to set permissions and restrictions in bulk.

Navigation
Follow the instructions below to go to the Membership node for users.
1. Go to Administrator and select an application.
2. Go to Membership using the left navigation.
3. Select a user from the Configure dropdown.

Manage roles
Upon selecting a user to configure, you will land on the Roles tab. The column values provide key information about the user's role memberships.
Note: Role and group both refer to a set of members (users, other groups, or other roles) with defined permissions, access, and/or capabilities. The difference is that roles are defined in Kepion, and groups are defined in Active Directory or Azure Active Directory.
Column | Description |
---|---|
Name | The name of the role. |
Inherit From | The role the membership is inherited from. |
The Roles tab also offers the following actions to manage a user's roles.
Add to Role
Adds the user to a role.
Remove
Removes the user from the selected role.
View groups
You can also view a user's group memberships by going to the Groups tab.
The column values provide key information about the user's group memberships.

Label | The unique identity of the group in the environment. |
